Five things the data told us
- Ramp is getting worse for AEs. The median AE ramp jumped from 12.8 weeks in 2024 to 14.6 weeks in 2026.
- Peer grading is unreliable. Two managers scoring the same role-play were 3.2 points apart on average.
- Practice is still rare. Only 44% of teams role-play weekly or more, despite 91% saying it matters.
- AI closed the practice gap. Teams using AI role-play averaged 2.7x more practice reps per week.
- The ROI is real. Teams that adopted AI role-play in 2025 saw a 42% median ramp reduction within two hire classes.
